THE SUNDAY
last sunday was just like any other ordinary sunday, except for the fact that it was actually not so ordinary because it was my youngest bro, A.J.'s 15th birthday. yups, it is on the 11th of September, definitely a very significant date. That date certainly do bring back memories of terrorist attacks on the pentagon and the World Trade Center, in the year 2001, which killed so many innocent lives. ok, since he couldnt decide on where to celebrate his birthday, and hey presto, in came a very smart suggestion by my another bro, that we should have a BBQ dinner. that suggestion was very good indeed and we had all the necessary ingredients to make the BBQ dinner a success.. EXCEPT.... FOOD!! that was the greatest joke of the century. We have the BBQ pit, the utensils to BBQ our food, charcoals, fire starters, matchsticks but no FOOD! and that suggestion came in a very timely manner indeed. the dinner was supposed to be at 7.30p.m. and that suggestion came in at 4pm.... great! so like any other last minute pro, we hurriedly dashed to TESCO and bought the necessary food stuff. for example, sausages, hash browns, corns, etc. so by the time we finished shopping and reached home, it was already 6p.m. so, we started preparing and marinating all those raw chicken, beef and prawns, and we shucked the corns. it was indeed fun. we had trouble starting the fire in the beginning, but after a few minutes, we had trouble keeping the fire under control instead. haha...the fire was too damn big, that whatever food that was placed on the BBQ pit was burned to crips, ok maybe i am exagerrating a little, but the food was so damn burned beyond recognition, and black that it was so totally not edible. get the picture? It was a very candid scene as all the food on the pit were on fire as in really burning and all of us were screaming "the food is on fire, the food is on fire!"ahhaha.. but after awhile, we managed to keep the fire under control and BBQ our food to feed our starving selves. By the time the food was ready to be eaten, it was already close to 9p.m. we BBQ-ued basically everything and anything that could be BBQ-ued, such as, sausages, prawns, potatoes, onions, chickens, beef, hash browns, crabs, squids, er that's all i guess, o right, and Marshmallows of course......The dinner was a humble affair as there were only the 7 of us, including my grandpa that is... Have you guys tried BBQ-ing marshmallows before?? trust me, you guys SHOULD do just that. it's the most heavenly thing that i've ever eaten man... Just a tip: when you're BBQ-ing your marshmallows, bear in mind to not put your marshmallows to close to the fire as your marshmallows will burn at an alarming speed. so just make sure that there's a sensible distance between the fire and your marshmallows. hehe. then just let it burn for a while, that is till you can see a slight tinge of brown on your marshmallows... and after that you can savor it. the taste is... well..... HEAVENLY!! it's crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside.... YUMMY!! The birthday cake was excellent too. i think i ate too many marshmallows that night, as i was pretty energetic after that and i couldnt sleep till around 3 freaking a.m. and i had to be awake at 6a.m.... damn... i guess my entire system was overloaded with sugar....well, it was an awesome night. everybody enjoyed the food, and everybody had a great time. I know i had a great time.
that's all for now.
till then....
