Linkin Park Rocked my life!!!!!!

The day was 22nd June 2004. the day that had the greatest impact i ever had in my otherwise boring and monotonous life. it's the day my favourtite rock band in the world.. linkin park, hit singapore. i missed them when they performed in K.L. due to my serious lack of judgement, frickle mindedness, and also time constraints. i was considering over and over again on whether to catch them in K.L. or not. well being the procrastinator that i am, days stretched to weeks and with a blink of an eye... it's the day of the concert. at first i've decided that i'll not attend the concert. but when i was attending my boring morning lecture.... i'd the sudden urge to attend the concert. but it's kinda too late as i've not even bought the tickets yet...as well as the bus tickets. well, my parents said that it's too late to go to the concert.... so fine.... i missed it..... i mean how can a fan like me miss the boys!!! it's like never!!! but i don't know what came over me during the few weeks prior to the concert.......sigh!!!!. well i felt miserable and filled with regrets for a couple of weeks.... and my cousin made it worse when he purposely called me from the concert just to let me listen to the sounds of the boys.....it's crazy..... ok let's just cut to the chase....
like i've said, 22nd june 2004 is the most momentus and memorable day in my life. deep down... i know LP might not come again in like a couple of years time or they might not even come again....then when i heard the news that LP will be performing in singapore.... i'm more than happy!!!! but the price of the tickets immediately dampened my spirits. they were S$ 98 for the outer circle and S$ 152 for the inner circle...... eventhough i was dying to meet them but being a reasonable person i am... hehe... i told my mum that i wouldn't attend that concert cozz.... it's just too costly....i mean come on... it'll cost like almost RM400 bucks per person.... and plus my bro... it'll be RM 800 and ...plus the bus fare.... it's close to a thousand but my mum being my mum...... she read me like an open book. she knew i was dead dissapointed when i missed them when they were in K.L. and she knows how badly i wanted to go the last time.... so she secretly bought a pair of tickets, for my brother, aaron and I to catch them in singapore. we didn't know that she bought those tickets cozz.... it was all arranged secretly....we only knew we were going to catch the LP boys a day before the concert.... when our mum asked us to pack our bags and we asked her where were we going and she said..... singapore.... and when she said that we were going to the concert....it took a couple of seconds for the news to sink in.... when it did..... hell broke loose.... i immediately screamed and leaped with joy....and what's more..... she bought the S$152 tickets....means we would be one step closer to the stage and of course the boys themselves.....!!! can you imagine that!!!! gosh it's better than winning the lottery man!!!! it's not like i play lottery though!!!...for the whole day i kept singing or shall i say screaming and croaking.. LP songs.....and i blasted my hi fi set like nobody's business...crazyyyyyy huhhh??! until i was stopped by my parents...as they told me that if i don't lower the volume... the trip's off!!! how scary is that...
i basically couldn't sleep at all that night and i played both of the LP's Cds that night repeatedly for like ten times to prepare for the big day.... talking about nuts!!!!
we were to spend the night at my cousin's apartment in singapore as she's working there. and she too will be going to the concert with us...
ok... on 22nd june 2004... we took the 9a.m. bus to singapore and reached at approximately 2p.m. after getting some food, sleep and rest we departed from my cousin's apartment and reached the Padang at 5p.m...... mind you... the concert was scheduled at 8p.m....yeah it's called the Padang..... basically it's really just an open field....that's where the concert would be. to my dismay.... when we arrived at 5p.m. there's already a bee line from the gates.... and the crowd was growing fast. but fortunately we were not too far from the gates..so we impatiently lined up like everyone else...... it's damn hot...as there's no shed...so we just stood.... sat... stood....over and over again on the pavement, and to kill time and boredom we played chess haha.... we were lucky in a sense that there was a mall nearby and while we stood in line my cousin and her boyfriend bought us dinner...well we need lots of carbo... for the energy that we need later right....so we sort of carbo-loaded with burgers and chips.... we waited restlessly..... it felt like an extremely long 3 hours..... just the slightest movement forward in the bee line, just sends my adrenaline pumping....and i'll curse when the movement stopped especially when we only moved three baby steps to the front after waiting for 2 hours plus in the hot scorching sun!! i became even more agitated and f**ked up by the screams of those lucky girls who won backstage passes to meet the boys...inside the padang....obviously they must have seen the boys..... that's why they screamed in the 1st place.... right??? or maybe they're just plain NUTs!!! finally at around 7p.m. the gates to the Padang were officially opened...everybody rushed in.. but luckily the organiser's had some sense... they placed a couple of security guards to make sure that nobody cut the queue and basically they made those people who tried to cut the line to go all the way to the end of the queue!!!!!! hahahhaha.., bless them!!!(the people who were sent to the back)!! and the guards made sure that we toe the line.... so all of us...like innocent primary school kids walked in pairs through the gates.... at least there's no shoving and pushing....i was grumbling, nagging and cursing all the way about not being able to get a spot near the stage....when i entered the Padang... i practically screamed when i saw that i was damn near the stage and i practically ran all the way to the stage!! and i was damn happy and elated when i could see every part of the stage clearly.....by 7.45p.m. as more people have piled in... the inner circle.... it became very hot and stuffy... and cram.... as those people from the back kept pushing and squeezing as they too want to get nearer to the stage....as the result of it.... we were like sardines in a can!!!! by 8p.m. i was already very sweaty and sticky....perhaps i should add smelly..... i couldn't really tell if i was stinky ...it's for the people around me to judge.... hehe...it's really very very hot and stuffy... as it was a warm night and even though it's an open space i couldn't feel the slightest wind and i was suffering from lack of oxygen....where ever i turned i could only smell sweaty bodies.... eurgh... nasty!!!!..... well maybe it was due to the fact that i am short and i was blocked from the existing occasional breeze....and my oxygen supply is sucked by all the tall people nearby.... hehe....
it was 8.15p.m. and the stupid opening act, a korean rock band, called PIA, hadn't appear..... i was growing damn restless as it was very uncomfortable and hot..and squeezy......and you could even feel each other's skin....hehe....even before the opening act, PIA appeared, all around me i could see people passing out and had to be carried out. well being the paranoid person that i am, i started wriggling my toes and move my legs a little, as i want to make sure that blood is circling well in my body.... as i would not want to pass out like the others... cozzz if i did.. then i would miss the concert and it would be an utter waste of money, time, and all the effort of lining up.....i did this throughout the whole concert!!! trust me.. it's HOT and STUFFY.... i guess i looked kinda pale as my cousin kept asking me if i was ok....hehe...
i guess i'm kinda long winded here.... but who cares.... i enjoy relating my whole LP experience to you people out there!!! it's getting kinda fun too.... recalling the whole special experience. plus this is my first blog.., so naturally.. i've lots to say....
so, moving on...by 8.30p.m., the PIA came out....they sang in korean... so due to language barriers... most of us didn't know what they were rambling about.... plus due to the fact that most of us had lined up for a couple of hours, and we were exhausted and i was getting restless.....plus we paid to see LP not some cheesy rock band PIA. PIA performed for about half an hour..... throughout... everybody's booing and chanting Linkin Park!!! all the way....
The LP boys appeared at around 9.30p.m...... it was a long wait but it was worth it....when they started their first song.. everybody started jumping and singing... or should i say screaming along with them.... that's super cool!!
some causasians started the mosh pit... and i was too in it until it's getting pretty dangerous.... they were shoving, pushing, and sort of punching and kicking....fighting.....so my cousin told us to get out of it....actually we were not suppose to be in it.. they just started right it in front of us so, we backed of to give them some space to do their crap!!! come on, i was there to enjoy LP's performance and not those shitty stuff..they were doing in the pit. so we stood beside some white caucasians who smoke and drank beer at the same time... and to my right i stood beside a caucasian with super long hair that covered his face and he head banged throughout the night.... that guy scare the shit out of me!!! then just right infront of me, a small boy of about 12... started puking half way through the show....euuuuuuu.... that's disgusting.... but i didn't give a damn....well as long as he didn't puke on me.. or something!!! i'm fine about it..
everyone in the crowd was jumping all the time... including me!! hehe.... and they were swinging their hands with the rock on sign.....what annoys me was that there's this fat girl that stood right behind me kept hitting my head with her damn hands!!. as she was swinging her hands and arms hard and vigorously.she's a danger to man kind!!! hehehe just kidding....she's kinda big!!!!!! so it hurts like helll.... so when she striked my head for the first time... i assumed it was an accident... so i didn't give a shit about it... but when she striked me like for the 5th or 6th time.. continously... i got pissed off... and i turned to the back and gave her a long hard stare and i guess she sort of got frightnened and apologized... and she quickly went somewhere else....i guess i must have frightened her... hmm..... i must have looked scary....when i am angry. we were not allowed to body surf though!!!! wasted!!!!
as usual the performance was superb!!!!! it's damn good!!! it's super!!! it's indescribable!!!! it's mesmerising!!!! it just leaves me on cloud nine!!! enough of the crap already!! hehe... well.... chester, as always... damn cool... with his mohawk hairdo......super cool.... and his voice.... superb!!!.. chester was always leaping from the amplifier box.... or whatever you guys call it.... mike was always runninig around like a mad man!! which makes him cool!!...and the rest.... they did their craft well!! at the end of the concert.... the LP boys threw their towels and even mineral bottles and Brad threw a few drum sticks to the audience.... i was near enough to rush for it.... but it's too rough and lot's of shoving and pushing...so we just backed off...
Overall.... the LP boys performed for about 90 superb minutes(it seemed short though)....they started with Don't Stay.... and as usual ended with One Step Closer..... by all means.. the coolest song....
overall, although it's hot, stuffy, fainty, squeezy, sweaty.... and alot of body rubbing... regardless of boys or girls....it's a great night and i must say... it's the highlight of my life. this is definitely one experience i'll cherish for the rest of my life...
and i'm ever grateful to my parents for getting us the million dollar tickets!!!!
there's only one word to describe this superb experience....WOW!!!!!
